Tank Fills
Air fills - We use a Silent Tech 9 system, double moisture separators, and double L- Factor filtration - that results in CGA grade E breathing air. We have 20 storage bottles filled to 4500 psi with air and 5 bottles filled to 3900 psi with 40% Nitrox, because no one wants to wait all day for an air fill. Your HP 3442 psi. tank is only 100 cubic feet IF it is filled to 3442 psi. If it is short filled you don't get the full 100 cubic feet you paid for. We have our air tested every three months, and have that documentation posted so yon can see what you are getting.
If you are not getting your Air Fills at Channel Islands Scuba, you should ask yourself and your dive shop these questions?
- Most dive store compressors look like they came out of the back of a diesel repair shop and most stores don't have their air tested as often as they should. As a result they don't post the results, ask to see their equipment and test results.
- Most stores don't have the storage, or the ability to do a good 3500 psi fill, let alone fill a high pressure paintball tank to 4500 psi.
- We fill our tanks in water because it speeds the cooling process, which helps us insure a great fill. We are the oldest dive shop in Ventura County and have been doing fills this way since 1988, how many people have you heard complaining about a short fill? They should have Channel Islands Scuba fill it to it’s true capacity, ask your current shop why they don't do fill in water? It is a SCUBA tank after all.
Nitrox Fills - We were the first store in Ventura County to offer Nitrox fills, since that time we have come a long way. Today we use a membrane system to pre-blend fills to 40%, this helps us reduce the chance of fire or explosion associated with pure oxygen (partial pressure fills). This makes it easy to blend any mixture you would like between 21% and 40% oxygen, up to 3600 psi. easy, safe and clean.
If you are not getting your Nitrox Fills at Channel Islands Scuba, you should ask yourself and your dive shop these questions?
- Why does my current dive shop only offer 32%?
- Some stores only offer what they refer to as, "safe air" it should be called expensive air because of the cleaning requirements to the rest of the scuba equipment.
- Most Sports Stores and Outlets don't offer Nitrox Fills.
